A New Chapter for Community Options: Welcoming Our New CEO
Community Options is entering an exciting new chapter, with Brendan Taber formally stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Brendan’s appointment marks a significant moment for the organisation. Having served in a senior leadership capacity within Community Options, he brings a deep understanding of our work, our people, and most importantly the communities we support.
“I’m incredibly proud to step into the role of CEO at Community Options,” Brendan said. “This organisation has a strong foundation, built on genuine care, commitment, and impact. My focus is to build on that foundation as we move into our next phase.”
This transition also marks the conclusion of an extraordinary chapter under the leadership of Brian Corley, who has dedicated almost 30 years to Community Options.

Brian’s contribution to the organisation and to the broader community sector has been significant. Over nearly three decades, he has played a central role in shaping Community Options into the organisation it is today, building strong foundations, trusted partnerships, and a clear commitment to supporting people experiencing vulnerability.
“We acknowledge and thank Brian for his leadership, dedication, and service to Community Options,” Brendan said. “The strength of our organisation today reflects the work that has been built over that time, and I am committed to continuing that legacy as we move forward.”
Community Options has long been recognised for its commitment to supporting individuals experiencing vulnerability, particularly those navigating complex systems across health, ageing, and social services.
Brendan’s leadership will continue to strengthen this work, with a clear focus on:
- Delivering high-quality, person-centred services
- Strengthening partnerships across government and community sectors
- Advocating for better system integration and outcomes for people with complex needs
- Securing sustainable funding to ensure services can meet growing demand
“Our sector is facing increasing pressure,” Brendan said. “We are seeing more people who are medically ready to leave hospital but can’t safely do so without the right supports in place. Community-based services like ours play a critical role in bridging that gap—and we need to ensure that system is properly supported.”
As CEO, Brendan will lead Community Options with a strong focus on consistency, accountability, and organisational strength.
Internally, the organisation will continue to operate with a clear leadership structure, supporting staff to deliver services effectively while maintaining strong governance and operational oversight.
“At the heart of everything we do are the people we support,” Brendan said. “Our role is to make systems easier to navigate, not harder. That means being responsive, being accountable, and continuing to evolve as the needs of our community change.”
Community Options is well positioned to expand its impact, strengthen its voice in policy and advocacy, and continue delivering essential services across the ACT.
“We have an opportunity to be part of shaping a better, more connected system,” Brendan said. “I’m looking forward to working with our team, our partners, and our community to make that happen.”
